I think this was hard because I  couldn't thither out winch is Bigger and smaller .

Persuasive text to analyze

WAL to identify persuasive techniques.  We had to figure out which technique they were using.  We had practised these techniques in the skits we created.  For example

They dress up like a scientist so we believe their expert opinion

30 Seconds has a slogan :”Spray and Walk Away”

Emotional Appeal makes you feel guilty if you don’t use the product

Overall, it was Tricky

Identifying bias in a text.

My Reflection

WAL to identify bias in a text.  We had to highlight the words that showed Koro Apirana being biased.  He would be mean to Kahu because he wanted a boy to be the chief but Kahu was next in line and she is a girl.  

I thought this activity was

tricky to find where he was being biased.

easy because I could find the examples.

The easiest part was the ones where it said he was grumpy with her.  The hardest part was where it didn’t say it very clearly.

This activity was really interesting.

I hope we get to do something like this again.

I’m enjoying learning about Whale Rider.

Walt: distinguish between relevant and irrelevant ideas for my Kenning Poem.

I was able to think of thing that relate to me and I made shore I did not see any red lines on the words.

Learning Reflection

I was not able to edit and proof read my work to make sure it made sense.  I got feedback from Mr Owens he helped me change my spelling mistakes and also he helped me make sure it made sense.

Next time I will look for the spelling mistakes by looking for the red squiggly line and I will try and use a dictionary to fix them.

45 Letter Sounds

Walt : use different spelling patterns and strategies to increase my word knowledge.

There are 45 letters sounds in the English language.  Sometimes these sounds are made by one letter and sometimes they are a made by a group of letters together.  Learning these letter sounds will help me spell unknown tricky words and increase my word knowledge.

Walt : use advanced punctuation

We have learning how to use bullet points correctly in my 10 Things About Me slideshow.  I learnt you need to :

• Place the bullet point in the margin.
• Use a capital letter after the bullet point.
• If you have written a sentence, end it with a punctuation eg. fullstop.
• Bullet points are used to create lists.
• Find the bullet points icon on the right hand side at top of the tool bar called bullet lists.
• You need to be in a text box to put Bulleted pont

Next time I will try and use bullet points in more of writing.
